How do I measure for a custom size rug?
Measure the space the rug should cover, including the area under your furniture, not only the open floor in front of it. The most common mistake we see is a rug sized to sit in front of a sofa or bed, when it should run underneath it.
In a living room, a common guideline is to have at least the front legs of the sofa and chairs sitting on the rug. Under a bed, the same guide suggests the rug should reach 18 to 24 inches beyond each side. Mark the outline on the floor with tape, check that it reaches beyond the furniture, then measure the tape.
Which rug sizes do people order most?
The sizes our customers order most are 8 × 10 ft, 6 × 9 ft, 5 × 8 ft and 9 × 12 ft. If one of these fits your room, you can order it as a standard size; if not, choose a custom size in 0.5 ft steps.

How do I order a custom size rug?
Open a design, choose Custom size, enter the width and length in feet or centimetres, choose your fringes, and go straight to checkout. Custom sizes are available on most of our designs.
- Choose a design you like.
- Under Size, select Custom size +.
- Enter the width and length. Sizes go in 0.5 ft steps (15.24 cm), so 7.5 ft is fine and 7.3 ft rounds to the nearest step.
- Choose fringes on one side, both sides, or none.
- Check the price shown, then select Continue to checkout.
How is a custom size rug priced?
A custom size rug is priced by its exact size, and the price appears to the cent as soon as you enter your measurements. Your fringe choice doesn't change the price.
There's nothing to request and no quote to wait for: the price you see on the page is the price of your rug at checkout.
How is a custom rug made?
Your custom wool rug starts with the wool: we dye it by hand, then send it to the weavers' workshop. The women weavers set up the loom with raw wool, then knot the rug by hand, row by row (flatweaves are woven by hand).
Once the weaving is done, the rug is trimmed, then washed and dried in the sun. That last stage is where we check the small details before your rug is packed.
Because every rug is handmade, the finished size can vary by a few centimetres from the size ordered.
How long does a custom size rug take?
A custom size rug takes about 3–4 weeks to weave for sizes up to 4 × 6 ft, around 5 weeks up to 7 × 10 ft, and 6–8 weeks for larger sizes. It's then shipped by DHL Express or FedEx Express, insured, and reaches the US in 3–5 business days.
Shipping is free worldwide. US orders ship duties paid, so there is nothing more to pay on delivery.
Can I return a custom size rug?
Yes. You can return your rug within 14 days of delivery, unused and in its original condition.
If you changed your mind, the return shipping is yours. If the rug is different from what you ordered, or arrives damaged, the return shipping is on us and we refund or replace it. Read the full return policy.
